The Superconductor is a software application which does not directly control any hardware. It is used on sites that have multiple lab2lab system sharing a single database and which are interconnected via one or more building2building lines (typically a campus type site). The Superconductor assesses the needs of the vials in each system’s Buffers and directs vials to be sent to other systems for access to specialized instruments or for load balancing. Details of these transfers are shown at the bottom of the screen.
The user interface of the Superconductor is configured specifically for each site to show a plan view of the systems and how they are connected. It dynamically shows vials being transported within and between systems in real time (the dotted green line is a building2building line currently transporting a vial).
