Different gradient types

designer offers four options for gradient directions: horizontal, vertical, constant and diagonal. All
gradient types can be further defined in the panel above the grid.

Constant

For constant concentration across the selected region, choose Constant and set the concentration in the panel above the plate map.

Linear, n-fold and ad-hoc

To create a series of concentrations:

  1. Select Horizontal or Vertical gradient.
  2. Define the type (linear, n-fold or ad-hoc). To further specify the gradient, there are two options:
        - define basic parameters for the selected gradient in the panel above the plate map grid.
        - open the Gradient Editor by clicking on the ‘Edit…’ button.

If you choose to set basic gradient parameters, these are:

LINEAR

Set the start and end concentration values into the editing panel that appears above the plate
map.

N-FOLD
Either select ‘Specify n?’ and set the dilution factor and the highest concentration, or define the
start and end concentration values and have the software calculate the dilution factor.

Note that the software will need to calculate intermediate stocks whenever the dispense volume
    drops below the minimum.

    AD-HOC

Use an ad-hoc concentration series to define an arbitrary series of concentrations across the
    region.

Enter the Gradient Editor by clicking the ‘Edit…’ button and enter the concentrations separated by commas in the textbox.

The panel will only show the concentrations once they are defined in the gradient editor.

    Diagonal

Set the start and end concentration values as well as the direction, which indicates from which
    corner to start.
